Did you know that within the top 10 tips on the London Marathons’ website is: Get a regular massage!

They state that:

– … massage has a number of benefits for body and mind. It can prevent injury, help repair injured muscle tissue, boost your performance and help keep you in all round good condition …

It is a good idea to build massage treatment/s into your running/training routine.

Booking a one-off session just before you run the race may help reduce psychological stress & make you feel more relaxed, but it is unlikely to make any significant physical difference to the outcome of your race/run.

However, having regular treatments can!
In my clinic, the more I see patients for regular treatments during their Marathon training, the less likely they are to suffer with on-going injuries & the less likely I am to see them in with an injury after the Marathon!

Running can cause damage to the muscles. If this is not treated it could result in a build up of scar tissue and this could result in injury. These problems can be exacerbated by the stress of racing.

Because of this, massage should play an important part in the life of any runner, whether you are injured or not and is a great chance to improve your performance.

Massage has a number of benefits which include:
* Maintaining the body in a generally better condition
* Preventing injuries and loss of mobility by pumping blood and lymphatic fluids around the body & keeping the muscles supple
* Assisting with the clearance of toxins/lactic acid from the muscles
* Supporting the stretching of tight/sore/stiff muscles
* Breaking down scar tissue and improving tissue/muscle elasticity.

It’s not only the physical effects that are beneficial. Physiological and Psychological effects are just as important. These include:
* The reduction of pain
* Anxiety reduction
* Invigorating

It’s not only Marathon runners/sports participants who can benefit from massage. Anyone can reap the benefit from massage treatments.

Keeping a healthy body helps the mind stay clear! So book your appointment now.
